Wedding Photographer Speyer
A Romanesque cathedral, a lively old town and the Rhine on your doorstep: I photograph your Speyer wedding quietly and attentively, with travel already included.
A thousand years of history and light on the Rhine
Speyer is one of Germany's oldest cities, and you feel it at every turn. The imperial cathedral in red sandstone anchors one end of Maximilianstraße, the Altpörtel gate the other. In between are cafés, historic townhouses and plenty of room for a wedding party that passers-by are happy to admire.
As a photographer, I love the contrast: imposing walls, then just a few steps away the open expanse of the Rhine. In the evening, light reflects on the water and the riverside paths grow quiet. You do not need a car for your portraits here; everything is within walking distance.
Speyer is about 30 kilometres from Heidelberg, easily reached via Walldorf and Hockenheim. That keeps Speyer within my radius for included travel.
Favourite places in Speyer
It is only a few minutes' walk from the cathedral to the water. These are the four places I most often suggest to couples in Speyer.
Imperial Cathedral & Cathedral Gardens
The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its scale makes an impressive backdrop, especially for large group photographs. Mature trees in the gardens behind it provide welcome shade at midday. For couple portraits, I like the side paths, where the sandstone appears only at the edge of the frame.
Altpörtel & Maximilianstraße
The medieval city gate is among the tallest of its kind in Germany and frames the main street beautifully. Saturdays are busy here; an early-morning or evening stroll gives us quieter photographs. The colourful façades make cheerful urban portraits.
Rhine Riverside & Promenade
Below the cathedral, the view opens across the river. At golden hour, light skims the water and passing boats bring movement to the background. A riverside walk fits nicely between coffee and dinner.
Schifferstadt & Hockenheim
If you are celebrating in Schifferstadt or Hockenheim, gardens, courtyards and fields are often right by your venue. A short walk is usually enough, saving us the journey into the city centre.

Frequently asked questions about Speyer
You pay €50 per hour of photography and the same for editing. Eight hours of coverage therefore come to €800. As Speyer is within the 30 km one-way radius from Heidelberg, there is no travel charge.
No. Travel within 30 km one-way of Heidelberg is included, and Speyer sits right on that boundary at around 30 km. For celebrations further into the Palatinate, beyond this radius, I charge the entire round trip at €0.30 per kilometre.
Ideally between the cathedral gardens and the Rhine, as they are close together on foot. You lose very little time but get two very different moods. If it rains, we look for sheltered archways and doorways in the old town.
Yes, gladly. Two hours are usually enough for the ceremony, congratulations and a few couple portraits. Including editing, that is €200, with no travel costs in Speyer.
Many couples plan a year ahead for Saturdays between May and September. If you are flexible, perhaps choosing a weekday or winter wedding, shorter notice often works too.
