Wedding Photographer Neckar Valley & Odenwald
This is home for me: castles above the river, timber-framed houses and deep woodland. I photograph your Neckar Valley wedding with local knowledge and a calm, documentary eye.
My home ground
Bammental sits on the edge of the Odenwald, just a few minutes from Dilsberg. I know the Neckar Valley not only from weddings, but from countless walks in every season. I know when morning mist rises from the valley and where the evening sun still reaches the castle walls.
Between Neckargemünd and Mosbach, castles, palaces and timber-framed towns line the river, framed by wooded slopes. The light in the valley is often gentler than on the plain, sheltered by the hills. For wedding photographs, that means soft transitions and rich greens.
Travel is included for celebrations in Neckargemünd and Dilsberg. Mosbach is about 45 kilometres upstream.
Castles and old towns along the Neckar
Five places between Neckargemünd and Neckarzimmern that I particularly value as a photographer, from Dilsberg on my doorstep to the timber-framed towns upriver.
Dilsberg (Neckargemünd)
The hilltop fortress above Neckargemünd is my favourite place close to home. From the castle walls, you look deep into the Neckar Valley, and the lanes inside the walls are narrow and winding. The light is loveliest an hour before sunset.
Hirschhorn Castle
Hirschhorn is often called the pearl of the Neckar Valley. From the castle courtyard above the old town, you can see the river looping below. For couple portraits, the walk down the old steps into town is worthwhile.
Zwingenberg Castle
High above the Neckar in the middle of the forest, this castle feels almost like a fairy tale. I check beforehand whether and when photography is possible on the grounds. Even the view looking up from the riverbank makes a striking photograph.
Hornberg Castle (Neckarzimmern)
Götz von Berlichingen once lived here; today, vines grow on the slopes below the castle. From the top, the view stretches far across the valley. In the late afternoon, warm sidelight falls on the walls.
Timber-Framed Houses in Eberbach & Mosbach
Both towns have well-preserved old centres with timber-framed houses, fountains and small squares. Mosbach's Palmsches Haus is among the region's most beautiful timber-framed buildings. Even in sunshine, the lanes offer enough shade for softly lit portraits.

Questions about weddings in the Neckar Valley
It mainly depends on the length of coverage: I charge €50 per hour for photography and editing alike. Eight hours at Dilsberg cost €800; in Mosbach, travel adds €27.
Travel within 30 km one-way of Heidelberg is included, covering Neckargemünd, Dilsberg and Hirschhorn. For Zwingenberg, Neckarzimmern or Mosbach, I charge €0.30 per kilometre for the entire round trip.
Dilsberg, because it is nearby and offers a wonderful view from the castle walls. I also love photographing in Hirschhorn and on the woodland paths above the river. Light rain can make the forest especially atmospheric.
In Neckargemünd and Dilsberg, gladly: they are practically around the corner. Two hours of coverage including editing cost €200 there. For celebrations further upriver, allow a little more time, perhaps four hours for the ceremony, reception and couple portraits.
Castles and palaces in the Neckar Valley are often booked well ahead. Once you have your venue, it is best to enquire with me too. Outside the main season, I am often available at shorter notice.
